One of those lovely moments you have no idea could happen – and a reminder that, even if you have a plan for how you intend to shoot, it is important to remain responsive to conditions as they evolve around you.
Immediately before this image was made, I was – as had been the plan – shooting panoramically. But midway through this already absurdly lovely morning, it appeared this phenomenon might occur – the mist drifting over the house itself. I lifted the 35mm camera as in a dream – instinctively – the panoramic hadn't the range to pull this out. There were perhaps 90 seconds the mist fingered around, then over, the farm – and 'the moment' lasted even less – 10 seconds or so.
